A recent study led by the School of Nursing at McMaster University, in collaboration with Niagara Region Public Health & Emergency Services, highlights the powerful impact of the Nurse-Family Partnership (NFP) program to support young, first-time parents through regular home visits by public health nurses.
Past clients, who participated in this research, praised the program for its compassionate, consistent support—especially the strong, trusting relationships built with their nurses. Participants reported improved mental health, greater parenting confidence, and better access to community resources. Many also expressed a desire for extended program duration, more peer support opportunities, and resources tailored to diverse needs.
