Miranda Sigurdson
RN, BSCN, MACP
I am a Public Health Nurse at the Northwestern Health Unit and have worked in the Healthy Babies Healthy Children program for the past 20 years supporting families and children from preconception to birth and beyond. I graduated from Lakehead University in 2005 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree and advanced my education in 2015 by completing a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology degree through Yorkville University. I have worked as a Program Specialist and Program Manager for the Family Health programs providing leadership and facilitating professional development opportunities, including designing and leading initiatives to establish reflective practice groups for public health nurses working in the HBHC program. I have a special interest in early relational health and attachment, and how formative experiences impact interpersonal relationships and parenting.
I will be working with PHN PREP to develop an e-learning module to increase public health nurses’ knowledge and skills on when and how to use psychotherapeutic based strategies to support the implementation of the PHN PREP nursing care plans for supporting perinatal mental health as part of delivering parent-child attachment focused interventions in response to HBHC client symptoms associated with perinatal mental health.
